The Big Day Out has just announced that they have cancelled one of their Sydney date. The market has really turned against festivals at present.
Whether this is the economy or the offer is a moot point.
The economy seemed to have turned and young people seem to be cautious in their spending or have a different of priorities at present. It has been said in the past that entertainment booms in hard times, but possibly that is not happening at present.
Smaller venues seem to be struggling, but is this the talent on offer, the price of drinks, or the costs of going out?
